Caroline Lucas MP tables motion following Contact campaign

Thursday 25th October 2018

Mum And Son In The Playground

Thanks to the 1,000 of you who wrote to your local MP about cuts to child disability payments under Universal Credit, the issue has now reached parliament.

Caroline Lucas MP for Brighton Pavilion has tabled an Early Day Motion on the back of your support for our Counting the Costs campaign. More than 50 MPs have signed a new parliamentary motion, which calls on the Government to stop the cuts to child disability payments under Universal Credit. These cuts will see £175 million less going to disabled children.

You can read the full wording of the motion and see if your MP has signed too. If your MP isn't listed, please do ask them to support the Early Day Motion 1741.

You've helped draw attention to this hidden issue in parliament and with the Minister for Disabled People. Your support has also helped us reach more families with our life changing advice. On average a call to our helpline means £100 per week going to a family. So please call our helpline on 0808 808 3555.
