The money will also help us campaign to tackle the inequalities that families with disabled children face, like we did for Cameron Mathieson’s family and the thousands of others since. Just ask you friends and family to sponsor you so we can support more disabled children and their families.We’ll send everyone who registers a free DinoDay t-shirt for their child and a printed activity tracker.Please note that registration for the challenge will open in early 2024.READ MORE ABOUT THE CHALLENGE Ask your child’s school or nursery to get involvedWe’re inviting primary schools and nurseries to participate by asking their children to dress up as a dinosaur or wear green for the day for a suggested donation of £1 per child.We’ve also created a series of fun dino-themed activities to run in class that help raise awareness of disability.DOWNLOAD OUR DINODAY PACK FOR SCHOOLS The inspiration behind DinoDay The inspiration behind DinoDay is Cameron Mathieson who had both Cystic Fibrosis and Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy and sadly passed away when he was five years old after spending over two years in hospital. At that time, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) was taken away from children who spent over 12 weeks in hospital. Here at Contact, we supported the Mathieson family’s legal challenge to this unfair rule. With our support, the family won their case at the Supreme Court and since then, no other family with a child who spends long periods in hospital has been denied this essential financial support. Cameron loved dinosaurs – or as he called them, Dowsers – and his favourite Dowser was a green triceratops called Troy.
